Paduka Ayahanda Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah
Ibni Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar Ri’ayatuddin Al Muadzam Shah
The former Sultan of Pahang, Almarhum Paduka Ayahanda Sultan Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah ibni Al Marhum Sultan Abu Bakar Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mu’adzam Shah, passed away this morning. He was 88.
Sultan Ahmad Shah ascended the throne of the largest state in Peninsular Malaysia on May 7, 1974 following the passing of Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar. He also served as the seventh Yang di-Pertuan Agong from 1979 to 1984.
Almarhum Paduka Ayahanda Sultan Ahmad Shah was known as a keen sportsman who loved football, golf and polo. He was the Football Association of Malaysia president from 1984 to 2014.
Almarhum Paduka Ayahanda Tuanku Sultan was passionate about polo. He was a consummate polo player who took charge both on and off the field. He served as President of the Royal Malaysian Polo Association, and later as an enthusiastic Patron of the sport.
