13th August 2016

The National Associations
FIP Zone D Countries

Dear Sir or Madam,

29th September to 2nd October 2016

The Royal Malaysian Polo Association is pleased to invite your national association to send participants for a FIP International Umpire’s Seminar to be held in Kuala Lumpur, from 29th September to 2nd October 2016.

We are grateful to the Federation of International Polo who have endorsed and supported this seminar.

The course presenters Peter Wright and Ben Turner, both from England.  Both are professional umpires with considerable experience and international repute.  In 2014, Peter Wright was the first Englishman ever to umpire the final of the Argentine Open.

This seminar is open to umpires sent or endorsed by their national associations.  It is not intended to be a beginner umpire’s course, but is for more established players who wish to improve their umpiring skills, and for senior players who wish to consider umpiring professionally.

Participants will participate as officials in two tournaments that will be run concurrently.  They are 5th Malaysian Ladies Polo Championships and the Malaysia Cup, which is a test match between Malaysia and Singapore.

The seminar will feature:
•    Changes to the rules and new interpretations
•    Mentored umpiring experience (for some participants)
•    Refereeing and game officiating.
•    Video analysis of games.

The seminar schedule is as follows:

The cost of the seminar is USD$100 per participant, payable to the “Royal Malaysian Polo Association”.

While visiting participants must find their accommodation, we recommend staying at the MiCasa All Suite Hotel, which is suitably located near the Royal Selangor Polo Club, where all matches will be held, and where we will have a cocktail on Thursday 29th September.  Please contact Ms TONG Kah Mun by e-mailing her at to make bookings.
